Finished my scholarship essay on Dali. Oh man. I did a mock interview with him. Here’s a snippet: AB: Speaking of your family, why did you inscribe “Sometimes, I spit for fun on my mother’s portrait” on one of your paintings? SD: This was done during a difficult period in my life. The values of the Surrealist circle and those of my family clash for obvious reasons and this was my way of expressing my rejection of traditional morality. AB: Was there not another way to express your rebellious nature? SD: As a surrealist? No. Modesty is not within my realm.
